Area Rug Cleaning

We first assess the condition of each area rug to uncover any pre-existing damage that might be present: wear spots or worn-out areas, stains, discoloration, any faded areas, identify any color instability and detect any odors, musty wool or pet odors, that might exist.

The first step in the cleaning process is to complete what is referred to as dusting the rug, that is to remove as much dust, sand and loose dirt as possible by driving the particles out of the rug using compressed air on the backside. Since it is the tight weave that holds the dirt and other particles in place, this will gently remove these contaminants by forcing them forward through the weave or up through the pile of the rug.

The second step is to flip the rug over and dust the front of the rug using a commercial vacuum cleaner and to remove the remainder of the debris up through the pile and fibers of the carpet. Now the area rug is ready for our cleaning and soil, stain and odor removal process.

Carpet cleaning technicians choose a sample area to ensure that the carpet can be cleaned effectively and that the color-fast is permanent. Any discoloration or carpet wear due to traffic, fading or existing damage is not reversable.

Application of a spot/stain, environmentally safe chemical treatment which will allow us to effectively clean the area rug.

Area rugs are then ready for a deep-cleaning, using a commercial-grade steam cleaning system specially designed to gently but effectively agitate, dissolve, suspend, and extract all of the cleaning solutions applied to the soiled and stained areas as well as the entire rug itself. The amount of water used during this process is minimal to ensure that the carpet does not get soaked, reducing drying times.

This additional steam cleaning rinse further removes any soil and cleaning residue that might be present, helping to restore the natural color, look and feel of the carpet pile.
